Over 4000 jobs are directly associated with the Defence sector in the North East and the industry remains an important contributor to the regional economy.

RTC North has worked in partnership many of the sector's major players over the past twenty years including the likes of BAE Systems, Joyce Loebl, Domnick Hunter and MKW and for five years housed the North Eastern arm of the Defence Diversification Agency.

Northern Defence Industries (NDI): NDI is a business development company that matches the capability of over 200 companies with the procurement requirements of the global defence and aerospace industry.

NDI provides support to international prime contractors, the Ministry of Defence and Tier One System Integrators who require visibility of quality suppliers that can provide collaborative integrated solutions to meet industrial participation and offset obligations. NDI has established a high profile presence in the global defence and aerospace marketplace by delivering what we say we will.

Marine Design Centre: The new £2.3 million Marine Design Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne will also help boost growth in this sector and become a recognised international centre for marine design skills bringing major contracts to the region's defence and marine businesses. The vision of the Centre is that the Marine Design Centre will be a global showcase for state of the art design skill and technology. It will allow companies within our region to access new markets, grow market share and gain competitive advantage.
